thru accident of history quite a number chose to stay on after separation as they hv been living in sgp for generations. the soc is more meritocratic and hence less favoritism. in msa though u hv pro-m policy there is still division between the hi/rich class and the middle/low class so its not so egalitarian if u see it fr outside. still poor malays. in sgp they r a special minority 'cos of the region and do get certain special treatment. there r very few poor malays

Because Singapore is their home mate. Why would you want to leave home unless there are some truly greener pastures elsewhere? Not many places have greener pastures than Singapore. So they might as well stay.
