If we were married in Singapore, but live abroad, how do we get a divorce

If we were married in Singapore, but live abroad, how do we get a divorce?
'Cute' answered this question before referring to the the Charter of Women's guidelines. To be more specific, my wife (Singaporean) and I were married in Singapore but have been living abroad for over 10 years. Are you saying that unless we reside in Singapore a minimum we can't get a divorce? What procedure is there for those who marry in Singapore but live abroad? Thank you in advance.

I can't speak to your Singaporean status, but if you now live in the States, you can seek a divorce in the state you last lived as husband and wife. A notable exception is Nevada where a person can go and "establish residency" and unilaterally seek a divorce. If you are in the states, go to the nearest "probate court" (this type of court handles wills and divorces) and ask there what your options are.

Send back your wife to Singapore and then totally cut off your contacts with her. Getting a divorce in Singapore is very costly for you becoz of women's charter. Its the most unfair thing in the world. You will lose almost all your money to her. Just send her back to SG.
