Aparently its hard for a young foreigner to find a good part time job (or even a bad one) in singapore - I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions

Are you are PR or a student on student permit? Some student permit don't allow students to work part time so you might need to consider that fact in before you find your part time job. Try Coffee bean or starbucks especially in the city area. They need staff that can commiuncate very well at the register.

depending wat's stated in your visa. if u're permitted to work.. then by all means, go ahead. there'd be plenty of p-time jobs available, subject to how much time u can commit. waitering/ kitchen hand in restaurants/ hotel banquets/ cafe, retail assistant in dept stores/ boutiques/ bookstores, store assistant in warehouse/ factory... remember, find something that interests u, and can be of gd use for your CV in the near future.
