Firstly, to work/live there, it'll be: 1) Quite stressful, especially working in long hours 2) The standard of living is high, expensive for selected items inclusive of GST 3) Healthy based on the air, because the air is fresh, and the environment is pretty clean. Pros: 1) Singapore has a good environment. 2) Singapore has different races and are in harmony 3) Singapore has appetizing food, even foreign ones available in the busy city 4) Singapore has a a good shopping paradise Cons: 1) Singapore's working life can be stressful, though economy is booming 2) Singapore is expensive, but based on some items 3) The people in Singapore are friendly, however, some may be kiasu, if you know what that means.

I worked there before. If you love working and shopping, then it is a place for you. Cleanliness: one of the best in SEA. Security : one of the best in the world. All crimials are 'well' treated', there is no unfair feeling for the victim. This is the best i like about Singapore. Government: efficient and effective. They decide everything, you just have to listen and do what is needed. Accomodation: unless you are wealthy, if not, just live in the apartment for the rest of your life. Social benefit : virtualy none.

It's all of the above plus some of my comments: I like Singapore at the fact where they strive to be the best in whatever they do, so you'll see efficiency, convenience, beauty, consideration, variety, high fliers, big shots, success stories, etc. So life is supposed to be good here. But one thing I don't like about Singapore is the 'live with it or leave it' attitude. For example, if you are a Singaporean male and by 19 years old if you refuse to go to the 2 year National Service, you'll end up wasting 3 years in jail and $5000 instead. Either way, you'll suffer like hell and there's no way out (at least in my opinion). Another thing I don't like is that the cost of living only goes up and the stock market is going down. Soon it's more expensive to live in Singapore than New York (I'm not sure if this is going to be true but there's a tendency for this)

Small utopia surrounded by third worlds. Very safe and organized. Clean and expensive.

well it's voted the best place for expats http://www.rediff.com/money/2008/jul/31forbes.htm living expenses have gone up in the past years due to the rising oil price and inflation but hey which countries do not suffer from this.
