The cost of living is high here but the standard of living is average only. Lately, becos of the economy, a lot of people here are jobless. Even if those who had found a job will get nasty scoldings or bad treatment from the old staff in the company they went to. The reason is becos of their inexperience in the job and different company culture and seniority. And for those who are jobless for months, more worse, their temper might be bad (for those single out there) and negative wild imaginations might developed due to stress. My last advise is don't live in Singapore unless you are rich or 'protected species' otherwise, good luck to you!

A modern city with affluent society. It is a small nation but everything works there. Compared to its neighbouring countries, it is more expensive to live in but it is not an issue if you work and live there. You will have to get used to living in an apartment there due to scarcity of land. One gets access to the many other beautiful places in the vicinity of Singapore, within a flying time of an hour or more. It is worth an experience

When you have a good job, good income living in Singapore is good and easy. Internional food available (foodcourt is cheap) good quality of life (clean air, many plants and trees) and very save for all and good for childeren (education) and you can drink water form the tap. But as beeing a big city with limited land cost of room, appartment / house is expensive. The higher priced are dropping as result of current crisses but low cost do not expect to drop allot. It is country which still will need foreign workers (most in cheap labor) but these workers only get work permit and after jo finish not allowed to stay. When you have a good education, job and income >2500S$ you more welcomes and even can request PR ship. But then you have to start paying CPF and your Childeren must go for national service in Singapore.
