Pasir Ris, hon. Used to live there. It's a modern sea-side town.

The area you are looking will be East Coast of Singapore....one of the excellent high school in the area is Tao Nan, and yes, this area is right on the beach..and very modern.

If you want to be closer to the beach,you can either take the East Coast or the West Coast.I would highly recommend the east area,Its nearer to amenities and also the airport. There is a beach known as East Coast beach.its beautiful and it stretches all the way just before Changi Airport.There are plenty of good High schools in the east area.Dunman High. Tanjong Technical ,etc

I second Divo. Pasir Ris is the way to go. East Coast is so overrated.
